U-19 (Female) Central Asian Volleyball ( CAVA) Championship – Selection Announcement The initial selection trials for the U-19 Central Asian Volleyball Female Team were successfully held on 9th July 2025 at the Torinton indoor courts, Colombo 07. A total of 96 talented candidates participated in these competitive trials. After a thorough evaluation by the national selection committee, 45 outstanding players were selected for the second selection. Sri Lanka Hosts First-Ever World Volleyball Day Celebration In a historic move to elevate the national sport of Volleyball, Sri Lanka celebrated its first-ever World Volleyball Day today at the Police Training School Volleyball Courts in Kalutara. The landmark event was held under the guidance of Senior DIG Sajeewa Medawatta, President of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation. The celebration brought together key figures in the sport, including Wing Commander Akhila de Alwis, General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation, along with several committee members and representatives from across the Volleyball community. The celebration marks an important milestone in Sri Lanka’s sporting calendar and reaffirms the country’s role in the regional volleyball scene. Organizers expressed hope that the World Volleyball Day would become an annual fixture, aimed at encouraging young athletes and strengthening the country’s position in international volleyball.
