FIVB Beach Volleyball Coaches Course 2026 Inaugurated in Negombo, Sri Lanka

FIVB Beach Volleyball Coaches Course 2026 Inaugurated in Negombo, Sri Lanka The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) Beach Volleyball Coaches Course 2026 was formally inaugurated on 02 March 2026 in Negombo, under the auspices of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVF). The Opening Ceremony was graced by the General Secretary of SLVF, Wing Commander Akhila De Alwis, who attended as the Chief Guest. In his address, he underscored the strategic importance of structured coach education in elevating the standard of beach volleyball in Sri Lanka. The course is conducted by FIVB Instructor Mr. Javier, a distinguished Olympian who represented Spain at the 1996, 2000, and 2004 Olympic Games, securing a Silver Medal at the 2004 Games. Following his competitive career, he dedicated himself to coaching youth national teams and delivering national coaching education programmes. In 2023, he was appointed as an official FIVB Instructor, contributing to beach volleyball development worldwide. Among those present at the inauguration were Mr. Onur, Head Coach of the Sri Lanka Beach Volleyball National Team, Mr. Charls Thilakarathna, Sri Lankan FIVB Instructor, officials of SLVF, and participating coaches from across the country. The five-day programme comprises comprehensive classroom sessions and practical on-court training conducted at Negombo Beach. The course is scheduled to conclude on 06 March 2026 with a closing ceremony and the awarding of certificates to successful participants.
